If you’ve ever wished your truck could double as a portable power station, the Ford F-150 Pro Power Onboard makes that dream a reality. Available on select 2025 F-150 models, this built-in generator gives you the ability to power tools, electronics, and even appliances—right from your truck.

Whether you’re on a job site, camping in the woods, or tailgating before the big game, Pro Power Onboard turns your pickup into a mobile power source.

What Is the Ford F-150 Pro Power Onboard?

Pro Power Onboard is an integrated generator system that uses your F-150’s engine (or hybrid battery) to create electricity. Outlets are located in the truck bed, so you can plug in directly without hauling a separate generator. Depending on the configuration, the system offers 2.0kW, 2.4kW, or 7.2kW of exportable power, enough for everything from power tools to a flat-screen TV.

This innovative feature is available on a wide range of 2025 F-150 trims, so you can choose the perfect balance of capability, comfort, and budget without sacrificing utility.

Everyday and Job Site Benefits

Pro Power Onboard isn’t just for contractors—though it’s a game-changer for anyone working remotely without a power source. On the job site, you can plug in saws, drills, compressors, and welding equipment right from your truck bed. Outdoors, it’s perfect for running campsite lighting, cooking equipment, or even a portable heater. Tailgating? Hook up speakers, blenders, and TVs for the ultimate pre-game setup.

Powering Homes and Worksites

With the available 7.2kW output, the 2025 F-150 can run multiple tools or essential household appliances during a short-term outage. While it’s not a full replacement for a permanent home generator, it’s more than capable of keeping the lights on, powering a fridge, and running electronics in an emergency.

Advantages Over Portable Generators

Pro Power Onboard offers several benefits that make it a smarter choice than carrying a traditional portable generator:

  • Always With You: No need to load and unload extra equipment every time you need power—it’s built right into your truck.
  • Cleaner and Quieter: Operates more quietly than most standalone generators and produces fewer emissions.
  • No Extra Fuel Cans: Uses your truck’s existing fuel supply, so you don’t have to store or transport separate gas cans.
  • Lower Theft Risk: Since it’s integrated into the vehicle, it’s far less likely to be stolen from a job site or event.
  • Instant Power: Plug in and go—no need to set up, prime, or start a separate machine.
  • Efficient Operation: Hybrid models can run electronics for hours on battery power before the engine needs to engage.

Fuel Economy Considerations

When in use, Pro Power Onboard may cause the truck’s engine to idle to generate electricity. This does use some fuel, but it’s typically minimal and can be more efficient than running a separate generator. Hybrid-equipped models can power electronics for hours using battery power before the engine needs to kick in.

Specs and descriptions are helpful, but the best way to see what Pro Power Onboard can do is to try it yourself.
